Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost & Rare Pittyvaich (750 ml)
฿10,999
Pittyvaich distillery, built in 1974 by Bell's in Dufftown, Speyside, was mothballed in 1993 and demolished in 2002 — its make surviving only in casks quietly aging inside Diageo's reserves. The Ghost & Rare series exists precisely to surface these unrepeatable stocks: once the remaining Pittyvaich casks are exhausted, this expression disappears permanently. Blue Label's selection threshold — only 1 in 10,000 casks qualifies — is applied here with additional editorial weight, as the Pittyvaich parcels must integrate with the broader Ghost & Rare architecture without overwhelming the house structure. The blend is built on Johnnie Walker's pan-Scotland framework: Cardhu (Speyside) supplies the honeyed fruit core; Caol Ila (Islay) delivers clean maritime peat; Clynelish (Highland) contributes waxy coastal depth — with Pittyvaich's Dufftown-water-sourced, lightly grassy Speyside character threaded through as the ghost note. Bottled at 40% ABV, chill-filtered, and non-vintage by design, the blend is assembled by master blender Dr. Emma Walker — the first woman to hold that role in the brand's 200-year history — from a reserve of approximately 10 million casks. What no peer in the blended Scotch category can replicate: the irreversible scarcity of a demolished distillery's final casks, deployed at commercial scale.
