Bellevoye Noir represents a deliberate departure from Scotch convention: a French whisky distilled in Brittany's Lannion, where Atlantic salt spray and granite bedrock define the terroir. The distillery sources French barley from regional growers, milled and mashed on-site, then fermented in stainless steel before pot-still distillation. The spirit rests in ex-bourbon American oak casks, allowing the grain's inherent sweetness and the maritime microclimate to shape maturation without heavy wood extraction. The "Noir" designation signals a blend of cask ages and finishes—some expressions carry subtle sherry or wine cask finishing—creating layered complexity atypical of single-grain whisky.
