Compass Box Phenomenology (700 ml) (Limited Edition)

John Glaser founded Compass Box in 2000 with a winemaker's logic applied to Scotch: source exceptional casks across Scotland, then engineer flavour with the same precision a Burgundian négociant brings to assemblage. Phenomenology is a limited-edition expression from that same philosophy — a boutique blend assembled in Compass Box's Richmond blending room from parcels held in bonded warehouses across Scotland.

Rather than drawing on a single distillery's terroir, the house deliberately layers geographies — Islay's coastal peat, Speyside's orchard-fruit character, Highland waxy texture from sites like Clynelish — to construct a flavour architecture unavailable to any single-malt producer. Custom-toasted French oak casks, a Compass Box signature, contribute spice and structure that standard ex-bourbon maturation cannot replicate. All component whiskies undergo primary maturation in ex-bourbon hogsheads or ex-Oloroso sherry casks at source distilleries before Compass Box's secondary cask selection and final assemblage.

Bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill-filtered, with no added colouring — the same uncompromising bottling standard applied across the Compass Box range — Phenomenology retains the texture and vibrancy that commercial blending strips away. As a limited edition, component parcels are not replicated across batches, making each release a singular, unrepeatable construction.
