Johnnie Walker Black Label (1 L)
฿1,699
When John Walker opened his Kilmarnock grocery in 1820, his tea-blending instinct — that combining sources across regions eliminates batch variation — became the founding logic of modern blended Scotch. Black Label is where that logic reaches its most deliberate expression. Approximately 40 malt and grain whiskies, every one aged a minimum of 12 years, are drawn from distilleries spanning Speyside, Highland, Islay, and Lowland Scotland. The architecture is tripartite: Cardhu (Speyside) supplies honeyed, fruit-forward sweetness as the structural heart; Caol Ila (Islay) threads clean maritime peat smoke through the mid-palate; Clynelish (Highland) contributes a distinctive coastal wax that no Speyside-only blend can replicate. Maturation runs in ex-bourbon American oak and ex-Sherry European oak casks, with the precise split undisclosed — the cask selection is made cask-by-cask by the blending team, currently led by Dr. Emma Walker, the first woman to hold the master blender role in the brand's 200-year history. Bottled at 40% ABV, chill-filtered. What no single-region producer can achieve — simultaneous smoke, coastal wax, and orchard-fruit sweetness in one coherent, batch-stable liquid — is precisely what Black Label is engineered to deliver.
