Compass Box Orangerie (700 ml)
฿5,299
John Glaser founded Compass Box in 2000 with a winemaker's conviction that blending — not distilling — was where flavour architecture truly lived. Orangerie extends that philosophy into territory most Scotch producers refuse to enter: a whisky liqueur built by macerating natural sweet orange peel and vanilla into a base of Scotch malt and grain whiskies, then bottling the result at 46% ABV, non-chill-filtered, with no added colouring — a specification almost unheard of in the liqueur category, where chill-filtration and artificial colour are standard practice.
The base whiskies are sourced from distilleries across the Scottish Highlands and Speyside, selected for their capacity to carry citrus and spice without losing structural weight. Maturation draws on ex-bourbon American oak and Compass Box's signature custom-toasted French oak casks, whose high-toast heads amplify vanilla and baking-spice registers that bridge naturally into the orange maceration. The maceration itself uses whole sweet orange peel — not extract or flavouring compound — a distinction that keeps the citrus aromatic rather than confected.
What separates Orangerie from every peer in its niche is that 46% ABV floor: where competing orange whisky liqueurs dilute to 35–40% and rely on sweetness to compensate, Orangerie retains enough spirit weight that the whisky character remains primary, not decorative.
