Johnnie Walker Black Label (1.75 L)
฿3,499
When John Walker began blending spirits in his Kilmarnock grocery in 1820, he borrowed a logic from the tea trade: source across regions and seasons to eliminate batch variation — a direct transgression against the single-malt orthodoxy of his era. That same architecture drives Black Label today. Approximately 40 malt and grain whiskies, each aged a minimum of 12 years in predominantly ex-bourbon American oak and ex-Sherry European oak casks, are drawn from distilleries spanning Speyside, Highland, Islay, and Lowland Scotland. No single terroir defines this whisky — that is the deliberate point. Cardhu (Speyside) anchors the blend with honeyed, fruit-forward sweetness; Caol Ila (Islay) threads in clean maritime peat smoke; Clynelish (Highland) contributes a distinctive waxy coastal depth that no Speyside-only blend can replicate. The blending team — currently led by Dr. Emma Walker, the first woman to hold the master blender role in the brand's 200-year history — selects from a reserve of approximately 10 million casks, with each individual cask analyzed and approved before entry into the blend. Bottled at 40% ABV, chill-filtered, the 1.75 L format delivers the same batch-consistent house character at scale. The special feature here is structural: smoke, sweetness, and spice are held in deliberate equilibrium across a pan-Scotland sourcing network that no single-distillery producer can architecturally replicate.
