Finlandia Vodka Cranberry (750 ml)
฿839
When Alko launched Finlandia in 1970, it commissioned Finnish sculptor Tapio Wirkkala to design the bottle — a deliberate signal that this was a different kind of vodka, built on process purity rather than post-distillation correction. The cranberry expression extends that same philosophy into flavoured territory. Distillation occurs at Koskenkorva, Ilmajoki, in Finland's western grain belt, where six-row barley grown under up to 72 days of Midnight Sun produces a high-starch, low-oil grain ideal for clean fermentation. The spirit passes through seven stainless-steel column stills across more than 200 individual distillation steps over approximately 50 hours, exiting at 96.5% ABV — methanol and fusel alcohols stripped without any charcoal filtration. The base is then transported 315 km by rail to Rajamäki, where dilution uses glacial spring water drawn from a 10,000-year-old Ice Age moraine aquifer, mechanically filtered only — no deionisation, no reverse osmosis, no mineral removal. What makes this expression unusual is that the cranberry character sits atop a genuinely neutral, additive-free grain base rather than a sweetened or charcoal-smoothed canvas, allowing the tart berry to read cleanly against faint white pepper grain. The result is off-dry, light-bodied, and sharper-edged than most fruit vodkas in its price tier.
