Ketel One Vodka (750 ml)

Ketel One takes its name from the original copper pot still, Distilleerketel #1, still in use at the Nolet family distillery in Schiedam, Netherlands — a facility operating continuously since 1691, making it one of the oldest distilling dynasties in Europe. Schiedam's position on the Rhine-Maas delta historically provided soft, low-mineral water ideal for neutral spirit production, and the Nolet family has leveraged that geography across eleven generations.

The vodka is produced by blending column-distilled wheat spirit with a smaller portion distilled in the original copper pot still — the pot-still fraction contributing a faint grain texture that column distillation alone cannot replicate. Crucially, Ketel One skips charcoal filtration, a deliberate choice to preserve that pot-still character rather than strip it to neutrality. The final spirit is bottled at 40% ABV without chill-filtration.

What separates this expression from most commodity vodkas is the hybrid distillation architecture — the deliberate retention of pot-still distillate in a category that almost universally defaults to pure column spirit. The result sits closer to a lightly textured grain spirit than a blank-canvas vodka.
