Saint James Royal Amber "Rhum Agricole" (700 ml)
฿1,050
Saint James, founded in 1765 in the Saint-Marie district on Martinique's lush Atlantic coast, is one of the oldest rhum agricole houses on the island and the producer credited with introducing the square bottle that became a Caribbean icon. Unlike molasses-based rums, Saint James distils exclusively from fresh-pressed sugarcane juice (vesou) harvested from volcanic-soil plantations on Martinique's northern slopes — a legal requirement under the island's AOC Martinique designation, the only rum appellation in the French Caribbean. The Royal Amber expression undergoes continuous column distillation to a relatively low cut, preserving the grassy, vegetal character of the cane, then rests in oak casks long enough to achieve its amber colour and softer profile without erasing the agricole signature. What sets Royal Amber apart within the Saint James range is its position as the accessible entry into aged agricole: it carries genuine wood influence and cane-juice complexity at a price point that invites daily use rather than ceremony. The volcanic and clay-rich soils of Saint-Marie impart a mineral tension that persists through the oak, keeping the spirit lively rather than heavy.
