R.Jelinek Amaro Liqueur (700 ml)
฿720
R. Jelínek has distilled in Vizovice, Moravia since 1894, a town whose identity is inseparable from slivovitz production — and this Amaro channels that heritage by grounding its bitter-herbal formula in a plum-spirit base rather than the neutral grain or wine spirits common to Italian amari. Vizovice sits in the White Carpathian foothills, where the distillery draws on a long regional tradition of macerating wild and cultivated botanicals in fruit distillate. The liqueur is built on R. Jelínek's own plum distillate, into which a proprietary blend of herbs, roots, and bitter botanicals is macerated, then sweetened to a medium register that keeps the bitterness present and legible. The result clocks in at 30% ABV, positioning it lighter than many Central European digestif bitters yet more structured than fruit-forward liqueurs. What sets this expression apart within the amaro category is its Slavic botanical vocabulary — wormwood and gentian-style bitterness inflected by the stone-fruit character of the base spirit, a combination rarely found outside Czech and Slovak production. Drink it chilled as a digestif or over ice; the plum-spirit base softens with dilution without losing its bitter spine.
