Luxardo Bitter Bianco (750 ml)
฿899
When Girolamo Luxardo established his house in Zara, Dalmatia in 1821, the family's commitment to whole-ingredient distillation — pits, stems, leaves, and skins — defined a philosophy that now extends across the entire range, including this Bitter Bianco. Relocated to Torreglia in the Euganean Hills of Padova in 1947, the distillery draws on estate-grown botanicals from volcanic trachyte slopes that impart a mineral dryness distinct from flatland producers.
Luxardo Bitter Bianco is a colourless bitter liqueur — a deliberate departure from the caramel-coloured amaro convention — achieving its pale appearance through the selection of botanicals that yield bitterness and aromatic complexity without chromatic pigmentation. The house's copper pot still batch-distillation tradition, used across its liqueur range, ensures precise separation of aromatic fractions. Gentian root, citrus peel, and aromatic herbs form the botanical backbone, processed in the same Torreglia facility capable of 6,000 bottles per hour yet still governed by recipes the family has maintained across six and seven overlapping generations.
The colourless format is the defining transgression here: Bitter Bianco delivers full amaro-register bitterness while leaving cocktails visually unaltered — a technical advantage no traditional red bitter achieves. Non-vintage, consistent across batches, and bottled for immediate use.
