Giffard Crème De Pamplemousse Rose (Pink Grapefruit) (700 ml)
฿889
When Émile Giffard founded his liqueur house in Avrillé in 1885, he brought a pharmacist's discipline to flavour extraction — isolating botanical essences rather than masking them with sugar. That founding logic governs every batch of Crème de Pamplemousse Rose produced today, now under fifth-generation family stewardship.
Avrillé sits in the Loire Valley, historically dubbed the Garden of France and France's second-largest agricultural region, where the Loire River once gave the house direct access to exotic citrus sourcing. The humid, temperate microclimate that defines this corridor shapes the house's preference for fresh, high-moisture fruit maceration over concentrate-based shortcuts.
Production follows Giffard's two-track extraction method: fresh pink grapefruit is macerated in neutral spirit distilled from sugar beet, with light, temperature, and oxygen tightly controlled to lock in colour and volatile aromatics. The base is then sweetened with sugar beet sugar, filtered, and tasted batch-by-batch before bottling — no wood aging, no barrel influence.
What separates this expression from commodity grapefruit cordials is the deliberate retention of pith-derived bitterness alongside the fruit's floral top notes — a structural choice that makes it function as both a standalone liqueur and a cocktail modifier where citrus backbone, not just sweetness, is required.
Non-vintage and consistent across batches; the bitter-citrus tension is immediate on opening and holds through the finish.
