Hennessy V.S.O.P Chinese New Year 2024 Limited Edition (700 ml)
฿4,189
When Maurice Hennessy codified the VSOP designation in the 19th century, he was solving a practical problem — giving British clients a shorthand for 'aged, quality reserve.' That same Tasting Committee logic, now reviewing ~10,000 eaux-de-vie annually, governs every bottle of this 2024 Chinese New Year limited edition. The blend draws from four crus — Grande Champagne's shallow clay-limestone chalk (built for long aging), the clay-flint of Borderies, Petite Champagne, and Fins Bois — sourced from over 1,500 independent partner growers across Charente and Charente-Maritime. Eaux-de-vie aged near the humid Charente riverbank chais contribute roundness; drier inland cellars add grip and character. Hennessy's production signature is deliberate: unlike Martell, which distills strictly off-lees, Hennessy distills both with and without lees, and reintroduces heads and tails into the brouillis before the second Charentais pot-still pass — concentrating congeners for a darker, more structured spirit. All eaux-de-vie are aged in Limousin oak from Hennessy's own forests, cooperaged in-house at 400–500 barrels per year. The VSOP tier requires a minimum four years' aging. What distinguishes this expression is the collectible Dragon-year vessel — a limited-edition format anchoring a non-vintage, 40% ABV blend assembled for stylistic consistency by the eighth-generation Fillioux blending lineage.
