Hennessy Privilege Cognac Limited Edition By John Maeda (700 ml)
฿2,889
When Hennessy commissioned designer and computer scientist John Maeda to reinterpret VSOP Privilège, the collaboration was rooted in a shared logic: both Maeda's generative art and the Fillioux family's eight consecutive generations of blending operate through layered systems, not single gestures. The bottle's visual language — algorithmic, fractal — mirrors the assembly of over 60 eaux-de-vie drawn from Hennessy's four principal crus: Grande Champagne (shallow clay-limestone chalk, prized for long-aging finesse), Petite Champagne, Borderies (clay-flint, rounder texture), and Fins Bois. Eaux-de-vie resting in the humid chais along the Charente riverbank contribute mellower, rounder character; drier inland cellars add grip and depth. Production follows Hennessy's house signature: double distillation in Charentais copper pot stills, distilling both with and without lees, and returning heads and tails to the brouillis before the second pass — a deliberate congener-concentrating step that distinguishes Hennessy's fuller, darker profile from lighter-styled houses. Aging proceeds in Limousin oak from Hennessy's own forests, in barrels hand-crafted at the house cooperage, with the youngest eaux-de-vie meeting the VSOP minimum of four years. The special feature here is the object itself: the Maeda edition transforms a standard 40% ABV NV blend into a numbered art piece without altering a single production parameter — the cognac inside is unchanged, the collectibility entirely external.
