Klein Constantia Sauvignon Blanc
฿1,000
Dating back to 1685, Klein Constantia is one of South Africa’s most historic estates, located on the upper foothills of the Constantiaberg mountain with views across False Bay. Originally part of the vast Constantia estate established by Governor Simon van der Stel, the land became world-renowned in the 18th and 19th centuries for its legendary sweet wines, which were cherished by historical figures such as Napoleon Bonaparte and Jane Austen. After a period of dormancy, the estate was revived in the 1980s by the Jooste family, who restored its winemaking prestige and replanted the vineyards to honor its centuries-old heritage while embracing modern excellence.
The estate’s unique terroir is defined by its cool maritime climate and ancient decomposed granite soils, which provide ideal conditions for Sauvignon Blanc. Situated on steep mountain slopes, the vineyards benefit from cooling ocean breezes and varying elevations that preserve natural acidity and enhance aromatic complexity. Klein Constantia’s winemaking philosophy centers on precision and sustainability, utilizing organic and biodynamic practices to express the purity of the fruit. By blending traditional craftsmanship with forward-thinking viticulture, the estate produces a Sauvignon Blanc that reflects the elegant mineral tension and vibrant character of the historic Constantia Valley.
