Les Crêtes Petite Arvine D.O.P
฿1,500
Founded in 1989 by Costantino Charrere, Les Cretes is a benchmark producer in the Valle d'Aosta, Italy’s smallest and most mountainous wine region. While the Charrere family has roots in the area dating back to the 1700s as farmers and millers, they pivoted to specialized viticulture in 1955. Today, the estate is managed by the family’s fifth and sixth generations, who have been instrumental in elevating the region’s indigenous varieties to international acclaim. Their Petite Arvine, a grape originally from the Swiss Valais but perfectly adapted to the Italian Alps, serves as an emblematic expression of their commitment to preserving alpine viticultural heritage.
The winery’s philosophy is defined by "heroic viticulture," managing steep, hand-cultivated vineyards situated at altitudes between 600 and 1,000 meters. This unique terroir features glacial moraine soils rich in sand and limestone, which impart a distinct saline minerality and tension to the wines. The extreme alpine climate, characterized by intense sunlight and dramatic diurnal temperature shifts, allows for a long growing season that builds aromatic complexity while maintaining crisp, vibrant acidity. By following sustainable practices and minimal intervention, Les Cretes ensures that every bottle reflects the raw, elegant character of the high-altitude mountain landscape.
