Su Reimond Moscato D’Asti D.O.C.G.
฿
Bera's Moscato d'Asti originates from vineyards in the Asti zone of Piedmont's Monferrato hills, where clay-limestone soils and cool autumn nights slow ripening and preserve acidity in the Moscato Bianco grape. The estate practices arrested fermentation—stopping yeast activity at 5–6% ABV and residual sugar of 60–100 g/L—a technique that locks in the grape's native aromatics rather than allowing full fermentation to dryness. The wine remains lightly sparkling (frizzante), carbonated to approximately 2–3 atmospheres of pressure, creating a delicate mousse that amplifies volatile esters on the nose. Bera's expression avoids the over-sweetness trap common in mass-produced Moscato by maintaining medium acidity that cuts through residual sugar, creating tension rather than cloying flatness. The 2023 vintage is drinking immediately, best consumed within 12–18 months of release to preserve the ephemeral floral character that defines the style.
