Los Vascos Chagual Reserva Sauvignon Blanc
฿฿
Reserva.
Los Vascos, the Rothschild family's flagship Colchagua Valley property, sits on the eastern flank of the coastal range where Pacific influence moderates diurnal temperature swings. The vineyard soils are predominantly decomposed granite with clay substructure, elevation 300–400 meters, aspect north-facing to capture morning sun while afternoon cloud cover preserves acidity.
This Sauvignon Blanc Reserva undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel, preserving aromatic volatility. The wine sees partial malolactic conversion—a deliberate choice that softens green-apple sharpness while retaining the varietal's herbaceous spine. No oak aging; the focus remains on site expression and fermentation-derived complexity.
The special signature here is the mineral-driven profile characteristic of Colchagua's granitic terroir, delivering white stone and flint notes alongside the expected gooseberry and fresh-cut grass. Drinking window: 2–4 years from vintage.
