Jermann Vintage Tunina DOC
฿฿฿
Vintage Tunina stands as Jermann's flagship expression, born from a transgressive decision in 1975 to blend white varieties across Collio's limestone-rich hillsides rather than bottle them separately—a practice that challenged regional convention. The vineyard sits at 150–200 meters elevation on the Collio plateau, where calcareous marl and flysch soils dominate, their mineral density amplified by cool Adriatic breezes funneling through the Julian Alps to the north.
The blend unites Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Ribolla Gialla, and Malvasia Istriana harvested at optimal ripeness and fermented spontaneously in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts. Post-fermentation, the wine remains on primary lees for 6–8 months, building textural complexity without oak intervention—a deliberate choice that preserves the site's mineral signature. The final assemblage is bottled unfiltered, allowing continued micro-oxidation in glass.
What distinguishes Tunina is its refusal of fruit-forward seduction: instead, limestone dust, wet stone, and saline tension dominate the mid-palate, with secondary notes of blanched almond and white peach emerging only on the finish. Drinking window: 3–15 years from vintage.
