Haras de Pirque By Antinori Chardonnay Reserva
฿
Haras de Pirque was founded as a thoroughbred horse farm before the Matta family transformed it into one of Maipo Alto's benchmark estates — a deliberate pivot that brought Marchesi Antinori of Tuscany in as a partner, importing a philosophy of site-driven viticulture to Chilean soil. The estate sits at roughly 700 metres in the Andean foothills of Maipo Alto, where alluvial soils over gravel and clay drain freely and cool overnight temperatures preserve natural acidity in white varieties. For this Reserva Chardonnay, grapes are harvested from those elevated blocks where the diurnal temperature swing — often exceeding 20°C between day and night — slows ripening and locks in aromatic precision. Fermentation takes place in a combination of stainless steel and oak barrels, with a portion of the wine undergoing barrel aging on the lees to build texture without overwhelming the fruit. The Antinori influence steers the style away from heavily oaked New World Chardonnay toward a leaner, more Burgundian-inflected profile unusual for a Chilean Reserva at this price point. Drink now through 2026 for peak freshness.
