Reserve Brut
฿฿
Telmont, founded in 1912 in Damery on the left bank of the Marne, committed in 2021 to sourcing exclusively from certified sustainable or organic viticulture by 2031 — a binding deadline, not a marketing pledge, that already shapes which parcels enter this cuvée. The house sits within the Marne Valley, where Pinot Meunier thrives on clay-limestone hillsides at 80–150 m elevation; the continental microclimate delivers warm days and cool nights that preserve natural acidity while building phenolic ripeness. Reserve Brut is a multi-vintage blend dominated by Pinot Meunier alongside Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with a dosage of approximately 8 g/L — low enough to keep the chalk-driven minerality audible, high enough to integrate the Meunier's characteristic roundness. Reserve wines aged in tank are incorporated to add textural depth and consistency across harvests. What separates this expression from most Épernay négociant releases is the hard cap on sourcing: grapes outside the sustainability certification pathway are excluded, narrowing the available blend components and forcing precision over volume. The result is a Champagne that reads as place-specific rather than house-style generic, with the Marne clay lending body and the chalk subsoil driving the linear finish.
