Bartolo Mascarello Dolcetto D’Alba DOC
฿1,990
Bartolo Mascarello is a legendary name in Piedmont, standing as the ultimate guardian of traditional winemaking since the estate was founded in 1918 by Giulio Mascarello. Bartolo joined his father in 1945, famously defending classic methods against modern trends like the use of French barriques and single-vineyard bottlings. He dubbed himself the Last of the Mohicans for his unwavering commitment to large Slavonian oak casks and natural fermentations. Today, his daughter Maria Teresa continues this historic legacy, maintaining the same small-scale, artisanal approach that has made their wines some of the most sought-after and respected expressions of the Langhe.
The Dolcetto d'Alba is sourced from estate-owned parcels in the prestigious communes of Barolo and La Morra, specifically from sections of the San Lorenzo and Rué vineyards where the terroir is perfectly suited for the Dolcetto grape. These sites feature limestone-rich clay soils that provide the wine with its signature vibrant acidity and mineral backbone. Following the family's strict philosophy, the wine is crafted with minimal intervention to ensure it remains a pure, honest reflection of the land. The result is a classic Piedmontese red—vibrant, juicy, and elegant—that captures the authentic character and heritage of one of the world's most iconic wine families.
