Petreo Carmenere
฿฿
Caliterra's Petreo sources fruit from Colchagua Valley's eastern foothills, where granite-dominant soils and diurnal temperature swings shape Carmenère's signature dark-fruit profile. The vineyard's elevation—approximately 400–500 meters—extends ripening season, allowing phenolic maturity without overripeness.
Vinification emphasizes extraction: fruit undergoes extended maceration to develop the varietal's natural tannin structure, fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel before oak aging in French cooperage. This technique preserves Carmenère's peppery, herbaceous undertones while building mid-palate weight.
Petreo (Spanish for 'stony') signals the terroir-driven philosophy—the wine's mineral spine and dark plum density reflect granite bedrock rather than new-oak overlay. Drinking window: 2024–2032.
