Medoc Cru Bourgeois
฿฿
Château de Tourteyron sits on the gravelly plateau of the Médoc's central communes, where deep Günz gravel over clay subsoil defines the terroir. The estate's vineyard aspect catches morning sun across southeast-facing slopes, moderating the maritime influence that shapes the region's phenolic ripeness.
The blend centers on Cabernet Sauvignon with supporting Merlot and Cabernet Franc, fermented in temperature-controlled concrete and aged 12–14 months in French oak (proportion of new wood typical for the Cru Bourgeois classification). The winemaking prioritizes structure over extraction: moderate maceration lengths preserve freshness while building mid-palate density.
Cru Bourgeois designation—the tier below Cru Classé—reflects consistent quality without the prestige markup. Tourteyron's expression trades the opulence of classified-growth Pauillac for linear, food-driven architecture: the wine's acidity and tannin frame remain prominent through the mid-palate, rewarding bottle age of 5–8 years from vintage.
Drink 2024–2032.
