Bicento Irpinia Campi Taurasini D.O.C.
฿฿
Campi Taurasini sits in the high volcanic plateau of Irpinia, Campania's inland heartland, where Aglianico thrives on iron-rich volcanic soils at 600+ meters elevation. The cool nights and mineral-dense terroir have anchored this D.O.C. zone's reputation for structured, long-lived reds since the 1970s revival.
Nativ's Bicento expression ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel, preserving the varietal's taut acidity and dark fruit precision before aging in neutral oak to allow terroir expression. The wine undergoes extended maceration to extract tannin structure without over-extraction, a hallmark of modern Irpinia technique that respects the grape's natural phenolic ripeness.
The special feature here is the wine's volcanic minerality—a saline, iron-tinged backbone that distinguishes Campi Taurasini from warmer southern Italian Aglianico zones. This is not fruit-forward Aglianico; it is a wine built for cellaring, with the acidity and tannin architecture to evolve over 8–12 years.
Drink from release through the next decade, though the structure suggests peak drinking at 5–7 years as secondary flavors emerge.
