Merlot Tre Venezie I.G.P.
฿
Reguta has farmed the same alluvial flatlands near Pocenia, in the eastern Friuli plain, since the early 20th century — a deliberate choice to stay in the lowlands when neighbours chased hillside prestige, betting instead on volume-driven, fruit-forward viticulture at scale. The estate sits on deep alluvial soils deposited by the Tagliamento river system, a mix of sandy loam and gravel that drains freely, keeps vine stress moderate, and produces Merlot with plush, approachable fruit rather than the grippy structure of hillside expressions. Vinification follows a short maceration protocol designed to extract colour and primary fruit without aggressive tannin pickup, with fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel to preserve varietal character. Oak contact is minimal or absent, keeping the wine clean and fruit-driven — a deliberate commercial positioning within the broad Tre Venezie I.G.P. designation. What sets this apart within the category is the estate's single-property sourcing under the Reguta label, giving traceability uncommon at this price tier in the I.G.P. tier. Drink young, within two to three years of vintage, when the primary red-fruit profile is at its most expressive.
