Domaine de la Mordorée Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee de "La Reine des Bois" (Magnum) (1.5 L) (Wooden Case)
฿฿฿฿
Domaine de la Mordorée sits on the rolling plateau of Châteauneuf-du-Pape's northern sector, where galets roulés (smooth river stones) blanket clay-limestone subsoil at 80–120 meters elevation. The stones absorb daytime heat and radiate it through cool nights, concentrating phenolic ripeness in Grenache while preserving acidity.
Cuvée de "La Reine des Bois" is a Grenache-dominant blend (typically 70–80% Grenache, with Syrah and Mourvèdre) fermented in temperature-controlled open vats and aged 18–24 months in neutral French oak (minimal new wood), allowing the wine's mineral structure to emerge without oak overlay. The cuvée name references the forest-facing parcels that produce the wine's signature dark-fruit intensity and savory spine.
This is a traditionalist expression—no new oak, no over-extraction—built for patient cellaring. The 1.5L format (magnum) slows oxidation and allows graceful evolution over two decades or more.
Drinking window: 2026–2050.
