−19%Mas Doix farms some of Priorat's most demanding terrain—steep slopes above the Siurana River valley where dark slate (llicorella) dominates the subsoil, forcing vine roots deep into mineral-rich strata. The estate's vineyards sit at 400–500 meters elevation on north-facing aspects that moderate summer heat and preserve acidity through the growing season.
Doix is a field blend of Garnacha and Carignan harvested from low-yielding, head-trained vines planted in the 1980s and 1990s. Fermentation occurs in open wooden vats with native yeasts, followed by 18 months in French oak (mix of new and neutral barrels). The wine undergoes minimal intervention—no fining or filtration—preserving the textural grip that slate-grown fruit naturally carries.
The defining character here is the mineral salinity that slate imparts: a saline, almost graphite-like tension running through dark fruit, anchoring the wine's structure without softness. This is Priorat without over-extraction—a wine that tastes of place rather than power.
