"Paraduxx" Proprietary Red Blend
฿฿฿
Duckhorn's Paraduxx represents the producer's deliberate pivot away from single-varietal purity—a transgression born from the 1990s conviction that Napa's finest fruit demanded blending flexibility rather than varietal dogma. The wine sources fruit across Napa Valley's benchland and valley floor sites, where Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the blend alongside Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc.
Vinification employs French oak aging (percentage new oak varies by vintage; typically 50–70% new barrels), with extended élevage building the wine's structural complexity. The blend's architecture emphasizes mid-palate weight and tannin definition over opulence, a signature Duckhorn house style refined across three decades of production.
Paraduxx's special character lies in its consistency across vintages—the cuvée maintains a deliberate restraint uncommon in Napa blends of its price tier, favoring structure and aging potential over immediate fruit expression. The current release shows the vintage's ripeness balanced against acidity retention typical of well-managed Napa fruit.
Drink now through 2032; peak drinking window 2027–2030.
