Chateauneuf du Pape - Les Sinards
฿฿
Famille Perrin, the family behind Château Beaucastel, created Les Sinards as an entry point into Châteauneuf-du-Pape that still draws on their deep-rooted understanding of the appellation's most demanding terroirs. Les Sinards sources fruit from vineyards planted on the appellation's characteristic galets roulés — large heat-retaining quartzite stones over sandy clay subsoils — which accelerate ripening and concentrate sugars while the sandy matrix preserves freshness and keeps yields naturally low. The blend is anchored by Grenache, supported by Syrah and Mourvèdre, fermented with indigenous yeasts in traditional concrete vats, then aged in large oak foudres that allow slow micro-oxygenation without imposing new-oak character. Mourvèdre's inclusion — a Perrin family signature drawn from their Beaucastel philosophy — adds structural backbone and garrigue complexity that most négociant-level Châteauneufs omit entirely. The result is a wine that drinks accessibly young yet carries the appellation's characteristic iron-and-herb tension, with a drinking window that comfortably extends five to eight years from vintage.
