Gigondas “La Gille”
฿฿
Famille Perrin's La Gille originates from a single vineyard parcel within Gigondas, the Southern Rhône appellation built on steep, south-facing slopes of decomposed granite and limestone. The site's elevation and aspect concentrate ripeness while maintaining freshness—a balance Perrin has refined across five generations of Rhône stewardship.
The blend centers on Grenache, supplemented by Syrah and Mourvèdre in proportions that shift with vintage conditions. Fruit is destemmed and fermented in temperature-controlled vessels, with extended maceration to extract structure without excess extraction. Aging occurs in neutral French oak and concrete, preserving the wine's mineral spine and varietal expression rather than imposing oak character.
La Gille distinguishes itself through its focus on mid-palate density and savory complexity over immediate fruit sweetness—a signature of Perrin's philosophy that Gigondas terroir rewards restraint. The wine typically drinks well from release through 8–10 years, developing secondary herb and leather notes as it ages.
