−14%Gérard Bertrand formally built his wine company in 1992 on a foundation his grandmother Paule Bertrand established in 1920 — and the Naturalys Cabernet Sauvignon is where that century of Languedoc rootedness meets his most radical commitment: converting every one of his 17 estates to Demeter-certified biodynamics, making him the world's largest producer operating under that standard. Every decision from harvest to bottling is governed by the biodynamic lunar calendar, a discipline that begins in the vineyard and runs through to the cellar. The warm Mediterranean climate of Languedoc-Roussillon, tempered by strong winds that reduce disease pressure without chemical intervention, provides the conditions that make zero-input farming viable at this scale. Vinification follows the Bertrand house method of separate-parcel processing, with fermentation in stainless steel or concrete to preserve varietal precision before assemblage. The Naturalys range carries certified organic status with no added sulfites — an unusual commitment for a Cabernet Sauvignon at this price point, where most producers rely on sulfur as a stabilising crutch. The result is a Cabernet that reads as genuinely site-expressive rather than corrected: dark-fruited, herb-edged, and structured by the grape's natural tannin frame rather than oak intervention.
