Santa Cristina By Antinori Rosso IGT
฿
Santa Cristina takes its name from the Antinori estate near Valdichiana in southern Tuscany, a property the family has worked since the 1940s as a deliberate volume label designed to bring Antinori's winemaking philosophy to an accessible price point — a calculated commercial choice that has kept the brand consistent for decades.
The wine draws fruit from Tuscan IGT-classified vineyards across the region, where warm continental summers and the moderating influence of altitude produce Sangiovese with ripe red-fruit character and naturally firm acidity. The inclusion of Merlot softens the structural edge that pure Sangiovese at this tier can carry.
Vinification is conducted in stainless steel, preserving primary fruit aromatics and avoiding oak-driven complexity — a deliberate choice for early drinkability. Malolactic fermentation rounds the mid-palate without adding weight.
What sets this apart within the IGT category is the Antinori house discipline applied to a sub-฿1,000 wine: consistent blending ratios and controlled yields that most producers at this price point do not enforce.
Drink on release through two to three years from vintage for maximum fruit expression.
