Satinela Rosado
฿
Marqués de Cáceres was founded in 1970 by Enrique Forner in partnership with Bordeaux oenologist Émile Peynaud — a collaboration that introduced temperature-controlled fermentation to Rioja at a time when the region's whites and rosados were routinely oxidised. That philosophy of freshness-first still defines the Satinela Rosado today. Garnacha sourced from the Rioja Alta sub-zone grows on a mix of clay-limestone and alluvial soils at moderate elevation, where Atlantic influence from the Cantabrian mountains tempers summer heat and preserves natural acidity in the grape. Short cold maceration on the skins extracts colour and aromatic compounds without tannin accumulation; fermentation proceeds at low temperature in stainless steel to lock in primary fruit character, with no oak contact and no malolactic conversion. What sets Satinela apart within the Rioja rosado category is its deliberate dry-style profile — Garnacha here is vinified bone-dry rather than in the semi-sweet register common at this price point. Drink young, within one to two years of vintage, when the wine's red-berry aromatics and saline mineral finish are at their most expressive.
