Wildmoor Dark Moorland 23 Years Old (700 ml)

Wildmoor was launched in 2024 as the first ultra-premium blended Scotch built entirely around William Grant & Sons' private reserve — a vault of approximately 250,000 casks accumulated over roughly 60 years, including stocks from permanently closed ghost distilleries whose liquid is, by definition, non-reproducible. Dark Moorland 23 draws on Highland and Speyside malts alongside Lowland grain whisky, each component pot- or column-distilled at its source before primary maturation in a combination of American oak ex-bourbon and European oak ex-sherry casks for a minimum of 23 years. The blend is then finished in Oloroso Sherry casks, which layer concentrated dried-fruit and walnut-oil depth over the long-aged base without obscuring the structural contrast between the lighter Lowland grain and the denser Highland malt. What sets Dark Moorland apart within the Wildmoor range — and within blended Scotch broadly — is the deliberate incorporation of ghost-distillery stock: flavour components sourced from distilleries that have permanently ceased production, making this blend impossible for any competitor to replicate. As a non-vintage, age-stated expression, character is consistent across releases, with the 23-year minimum ensuring the Oloroso finish integrates rather than dominates.
