Jameson 18 Years Irish Whiskey (700 ml)
฿7,719
When John Jameson took control of the Bow Street Distillery in Dublin in 1786, the decision to include unmalted barley alongside malted grain in the pot still mash was driven by 18th-century Irish malt tax avoidance — a fiscal workaround that accidentally defined a style unique to Ireland. That same Single Pot Still character anchors the 18 Year expression today. All component whiskeys originate from a single site: New Midleton Distillery, County Cork, fed by the Dungourney River and supplied by over 200 local barley farmers within 50 miles — a single-distillery blend that breaks the multi-source convention of virtually every other blended whiskey house on the planet. Triple distillation through copper pot and column stills strips harsh congeners before the spirit enters a combination of ex-bourbon American oak casks and ex-sherry European oak butts for a minimum of 18 years. The final stage returns the whiskey to the original Bow Street maturation warehouse in Dublin's Smithfield for finishing, before cask-strength bottling — ABV varying by batch, with no dilution to a standard commercial proof. Barley is kiln-dried over natural gas rather than peat, preserving a clean, unsmoked malt backbone that lets the long oak maturation speak without interference. At 18 years, this is the deepest expression of Midleton's house character: the unmalted barley spice of pot still Irish whiskey amplified by two decades of cask dialogue.
