The Macallan A Night on Earth The First Light (700 ml)
฿7,789
The A Night on Earth: The First Light release belongs to The Macallan's artist-collaboration series, here evoking the moment dawn breaks over Japan — a narrative anchor that is not merely decorative but frames a deliberate departure from the distillery's age-stated core. Produced at the Easter Elchies Estate on the north-west slopes of the River Spey near Craigellachie, the spirit originates from alluvial soils fed by on-site spring water, with double distillation through 3,900-litre squat copper pot stills — craft-distillery scale despite global output — that deliberately limit copper-vapour contact to yield a heavier, oilier new make capable of absorbing deep sherry-cask character. Maturation follows The Macallan's vertically integrated cask programme: sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks, sourced from Galician forests, air-dried, coopered, and Oloroso-seasoned in Jerez before filling — a wood investment unmatched among Speyside peers. Natural colour only, with no added E150a caramel. What sets this expression apart within the wider Macallan portfolio is its position as a no-age-statement limited release built around a single cultural concept rather than a maturation milestone, breaking the distillery's own convention of anchoring prestige to declared age. The result is a sherry-driven, full-bodied Speyside malt carrying dried fruit, ginger, and warm oak spice — a format that trades the chronological hierarchy of the core range for artistic occasion.
