Royal Salute was born on 2 June 1953, blended by Chivas Brothers to mark the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II — a founding purpose that locked in an absolute floor of 21 years' maturation on every component whisky, malt and grain alike, a standard the brand has never relaxed across seven decades. That commitment is the structural fact behind every bottle in the range.

The liquid is assembled and married in the Royal Salute Vault, a dedicated bonded warehouse within Strathisla Distillery, Keith, Moray — founded 1786 and the oldest continuously operating distillery in the Scottish Highlands. Process water is drawn from the Fons Bulliens Well, a peat-free natural spring prized for its softness, which shapes the distillate's characteristically clean, creamy texture. The Speyside valley microclimate — mild, humid, low-elevation — favours slow, even cask development over the mandatory two-decade-plus rest.

The Signature Blend marries Strathisla single malt with grain and malt whiskies from distilleries across Scotland's five regions, all rested in a combination of ex-bourbon American oak and ex-sherry casks, bottled at 40% ABV. The result is a fruit-forward, vanilla-laced profile with dried fruit depth from the sherry wood and a long, gently spiced finish. The Daisy Edition II flacon — hand-crafted from Cornish clay with double-layer glazing, authenticated by a Wade Ceramics hallmark — takes up to six days to produce, making the vessel itself a collector object independent of the liquid. Royal Salute remains the only Scotch whisky portfolio where no expression contains a component younger than 21 years — a bar most luxury single malts do not clear at their entry tier.
