Johnnie Walker Blue Label Chinese New Year Of The Dragon (750 ml)
฿9,999
John Walker's original breakthrough was borrowed from tea: blend across regions and seasons to eliminate batch variation, a logic that in 1820 ran directly against the single-malt orthodoxy of Kilmarnock. Blue Label is where that philosophy reaches its most selective expression — only 1 in every 10,000 casks in Diageo's reserve of approximately 10 million oak vessels qualifies, hand-assessed by the blending team before inclusion. The result draws on malt contributors spanning the full Scottish compass: Cardhu (Speyside) for honeyed fruit at the core, Caol Ila (Islay) for clean maritime peat, Clynelish (Highland) for waxy coastal depth, with occasional parcels from permanently closed 'ghost' distilleries — Brora and Port Ellen among them — surfacing in select batches. Maturation runs across ex-bourbon American oak and ex-Sherry European oak casks; the precise split remains a trade secret, but the interplay of vanilla-rich bourbon wood against dried-fruit Sherry influence is the structural engine of Blue Label's depth. Bottled at 40% ABV, chill-filtered, and presented here in a limited Year of the Dragon commemorative release, this expression is one of the only commercially available vehicles for tasting whisky from distilleries that no longer exist. Non-vintage by design, Blue Label prioritises absolute house consistency over batch individuality — the Dragon edition adds collectible scarcity to that already rarified selection threshold.
