Johnnie Walker Blue Label Year Of The Ox (750 ml)
฿8,995
When John Walker opened his Kilmarnock grocery in 1820, his tea-blending instinct — that cross-origin blending eliminates batch variance — became the founding logic of what would eventually produce Blue Label: a tier where only 1 in every 10,000 casks in Diageo's reserve of approximately 10 million oak vessels qualifies for selection. The Year of the Ox edition packages that same liquid in a commemorative release marking the 2021 Lunar cycle, making it simultaneously a whisky collector's object and a culturally specific gift format.
Blue Label draws from malt distilleries spanning all four major Scottish regions: Cardhu (Speyside) anchors the honeyed core; Caol Ila (Islay) threads clean maritime peat through the mid-palate; Clynelish (Highland) contributes its distinctive waxy coastal texture; and the recipe occasionally incorporates whisky from permanently silent 'ghost distilleries' — a category Blue Label is one of the only commercially available expressions to access. Bottled at 40% ABV, chill-filtered, with no age statement, the blend is assembled by Master Blender Dr. Emma Walker — the first woman to hold that role in the brand's 200-year history — from casks matured in predominantly ex-bourbon American oak and ex-Sherry European oak. The special feature here is the ghost-distillery access: no other expression at this price tier routinely incorporates whisky from closed Scottish distilleries such as Brora or Port Ellen. Non-vintage by design; drink now or hold as a collector's piece.
