Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie Unpeated Islay Single Malt (Glass Set)
฿4,449
Founded in 1881 by the Harvey brothers on the western shore of Loch Indaal, Bruichladdich was deliberately sited on a gentle slope so that every stage of production — milling, mashing, fermentation, distillation — runs entirely by gravity, with no pumps. That founding engineering decision remains intact today. The Classic Laddie is distilled from 100% Scottish malted barley at 0 ppm phenols, a deliberate provocation on an island whose identity is synonymous with peat smoke. Over 50% of the barley is now grown by 20 Islay farming partners under a programme started in 2004 — farm, field, variety, and harvest year disclosed on every bottle, a level of agricultural transparency virtually unmatched in Scotch whisky. Process water is drawn from An Torran reservoir (soft, peaty); reduction water flows from the Octomore Farm spring through ancient Lewisian gneiss, a high-silica source unique to the island. Fermentation runs deliberately slow in six Douglas Fir wooden washbacks, then double-distilled through unusually tall, narrow-necked 6-metre spirit stills that maximise copper reflux for a clean, barley-forward new make. The multi-vintage assemblage is bottled at 50% ABV, no chill-filtration, no caramel colouring, on Islay. The special feature here: this is the only distillery on Islay — the peatiest whisky island on earth — whose flagship expression carries zero peat, bottled at full flavour strength with complete barley provenance transparency.
