Lars Olsson Smith's 1879 original Absolut Rent Brännvin — 'absolutely pure spirit' — set the technical ambition that still governs every bottle leaving Åhus: purity achieved through distillation precision alone, never through post-still filtration. Absolut Raspberri is built on that same unflinching foundation. All wheat is sourced from approximately 400 farms within Skåne's flat coastal plain surrounding Åhus, yielding at roughly twice the global average per hectare on fertile Baltic-adjacent soils. Water is drawn from the distillery's own wells at 140+ metres depth, filtered through Swedish bedrock over millennia, delivering exceptional mineral neutrality. The base spirit passes through a multi-column continuous rectification system — including a copper-packed column for sulphur catalysation — refining to ~96% ABV before dilution to 40% ABV. No charcoal filtration, no chemical filtration, no sugar, glycerin, or additives are applied at any stage; the raspberry character is introduced as natural flavouring into a base that retains the wheat's soft cereal texture that most competitors strip away. The special feature here is structural: Absolut's refusal to filter means the grain's mouthfeel survives into the flavoured expression, giving Raspberri a rounder, less hollow texture than most flavoured vodkas at this price point.
