Código 1530 Tequila Rosa (750 ml)
฿4,400
When Código 1530 launched in 2016, co-founders Ron Snyder and Federico Vaughan made a single rule-breaking decision that defined the Rosa: rest a Blanco in uncharred French White Oak barrels previously holding Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon for exactly one month — long enough to draw a natural blush from residual wine compounds, short enough to preserve agave character. No colorant. No additive. The pink hue is entirely structural.
The agave originates from the Los Bajos (Lowlands) volcanic soils of Amatitán, Jalisco — fertile, rain-fed terrain sitting lower and warmer than the Highlands, producing piñas harvested only at ≥32 Brix. Process water filters naturally through volcanic rock, reinforcing the mineral, earthy register that defines the Lowlands profile.
At Varo Destilería (NOM 1616), the agave is cooked in stainless steel ovens, juice isolated via a proprietary shredder/chopper, then fermented in stainless steel using heirloom bread yeast from a multi-generational Amatitán bakery — a slow, organic fermentation spanning days rather than hours. Two distillations follow in custom handmade stainless steel pot stills. Zero glycerin, sweeteners, or colorants are added at any stage.
The special feature: French White Oak eugenol spice and Cabernet-derived red-fruit lift on a Blanco frame — a winemaker's logic applied to tequila production that no Jalisco Lowlands peer replicates. Drink now; the delicate pink tone and fresh agave lift are at their most expressive young.
