Bumbu The Original Rum (700 ml)
฿1,999
Bumbu draws its name from a 17th-century sailor's recipe — seafarers blending local rum with spices and sugar cane across Caribbean ports — a lineage the brand literalises by sourcing its base spirit from Barbados, the island credited with the earliest documented rum distillation. The sugarcane grown on Barbados benefits from coral limestone soils and consistent Atlantic trade-wind cooling, conditions that produce a lighter, cleaner distillate compared to heavier molasses-forward styles of Jamaica or Guyana. Bumbu The Original is a blend of pot-still and column-still rums aged up to 15 years in American oak ex-bourbon casks, which contributes vanilla, caramel, and dried-fruit character to the spirit's naturally grassy cane backbone. Post-aging, the rum is infused with a proprietary blend of Caribbean spices and fruits — including banana, vanilla, and cinnamon — before bottling at 40% ABV without chill-filtration. What separates this expression from conventional spiced rums is the age statement foundation: most spiced rums use young, unaged spirit as a base, whereas Bumbu builds its botanical layer on top of genuinely matured rum. The result is a spirit where the spice integration sits within an already-developed oak structure rather than masking raw distillate.
