Ron Matusalem Gran Reserva 15 Year Rum (700 ml)
฿2,129
Ron Matusalem traces its origins to 1872, when Cuban founders Benjamín Camp and Facundo Álvarez developed a Solera system — a fractional blending method borrowed from Jerez sherry production — as the technical backbone of every expression. After the Cuban Revolution forced relocation, production settled in Santiago de los Caballeros, in the Cibao Valley of the Dominican Republic, where the warm, humid Caribbean climate accelerates spirit-wood interaction and drives higher rates of evaporation and extraction from the cask.
The Gran Reserva 15 Year is built on that proprietary Solera, in which American white oak barrels are stacked in fractional tiers; no barrel is ever fully emptied, meaning the youngest distillate is continuously blended with rum that has rested for up to 15 years. The result is a statistical average age of 15 years rather than a minimum, concentrating vanillin, caramel, and dried-fruit compounds beyond what a straight-aged rum of equivalent statement typically delivers. The rum is not chill-filtered, preserving the ester load developed during extended wood contact.
What distinguishes this expression within the Matusalem range is the depth of the Solera stack — reportedly among the deepest maintained in Dominican rum production — giving the 15 Year a viscosity and layered wood character that younger blends in the lineup cannot replicate. Drink now through the mid-2030s.
