Disaronno Originale Amaretto (700 ml)
฿1,125
Disaronno Originale traces its origin to 1525 Saronno, where local lore credits a widow who gifted a Bernardino Luini disciple an apricot-kernel infusion as a model's token — a story the brand has anchored to a specific painting in the Sanctuary of Santa Maria delle Grazie. Whether apocryphal or not, the recipe has remained proprietary for five centuries.
Saronno sits on the Lombardy plain, far from vineyard terroir, but the production environment — hard, mineral-rich local water — shapes the liqueur's texture. The base is a neutral spirit infused with absolute alcohol extracts of seventeen herbs and fruits, with apricot kernel oil as the dominant botanical, delivering the characteristic marzipan-almond character without a single almond in the recipe.
The liqueur is bottled at 28% ABV, non-chill-filtered, in the recognisable square decanter designed by a student of Giò Ponti. What sets it apart categorically: no almonds are used — the almond impression comes entirely from apricot drupe kernels (prunus armeniaca), making it botanically distinct from most amaretti on the market. Rich, viscous texture with burnt caramel sweetness and a dry bitter finish from the kernel oils.
