The Bitter Truth, founded in Munich in 2006 by bartenders Stephan Berg and Alexander Hauck, revived falernum for the modern bar — a syrup-liqueur hybrid that had largely vanished from commercial production outside the Caribbean. Their Golden Falernum is produced in Bavaria using a maceration-based method: lime zest, clove, ginger, and almond are steeped in a neutral cane-spirit base, then sweetened and bottled at a cocktail-functional ABV. The "Golden" designation signals a warmer, richer profile than clear falernum syrups — the colour and depth come from the botanical load rather than wood aging.
