Hennessy 2025 MAF X.O Limited Edition (700 ml)

Maurice Hennessy created the XO category in 1870 as a private reserve for family and friends — a blend so ambitious it had no commercial classification yet. That founding logic still governs the liquid inside: over 100 individual eaux-de-vie, the oldest aged up to approximately 30 years, drawn from Grande Champagne's shallow clay-limestone chalk, the clay-flint soils of Borderies, and Fins Bois, each cru contributing a distinct structural layer. Casks near the humid Charente riverbank yield rounder, mellower spirit; drier inland chais contribute grip and character — both are present here. Distillation in traditional Charentais alembic copper pot stills includes both lees-on and lees-off batches, with heads and tails reintroduced to the brouillis before the second pass, concentrating congeners to a depth Martell's lees-free protocol cannot replicate. Aging proceeds in Limousin oak from Hennessy's own forests — trees felled only after 80+ years of growth, cooperaged by hand on-site at a rate of 400–500 barrels per year. The eighth consecutive generation of the Fillioux family assembled this blend, an unbroken 200-year lineage unique in global spirits. The 2025 MAF edition packages this unchanged liquid in a collector's release, making the bottle a limited object while the XO formula itself remains non-vintage by design. Bottled at 40% ABV, lightly filtered.
