Rémy Martin's founding commitment — made in 1724 by a Charente vintner — to source exclusively from Grande and Petite Champagne has never been diluted: every drop in this bottle qualifies as Cognac Fine Champagne AOC, a restriction most rival houses reserve only for prestige cuvées. The XO Night Step Into The Light is a limited-edition expression of that same terroir logic, dressed in a bottle designed for nocturnal ceremony without altering the liquid inside.

The chalk runs deep here. Grande and Petite Champagne soils are calcareous to their core — permeable enough to drain, yet moisture-retentive enough to sustain Ugni Blanc through dry summers, preserving the high acidity that survives double distillation and fuels decades of aromatic development in barrel. No other Cognac cru produces this combination of tension and longevity.

The house's defining technical signature is distillation on the lees — the residual yeast sediment most houses rack away before the still fires. Rémy Martin retains it, running each charentais copper pot still cycle for approximately 24 hours across two passes, extracting a richer, more aromatic new-make. The XO blend draws on up to 400 individually selected eaux-de-vie, the youngest aged a minimum of 10 years, the oldest exceeding 30, all matured in French Limousin oak from trees at least a century old, seasoned outdoors 2–3 years before coopering.

What sets this expression apart within the XO tier is the limited-edition packaging format — a collector's object that makes the house's most accessible prestige cognac a deliberate gifting and display artefact — while the liquid itself remains the full Fine Champagne blend, unchanged.
