Hennessy X.O. Holiday Limited Edition (700 ml)

Maurice Hennessy created the XO category in 1870 — not for commerce, but as a private blend for family and friends — and in doing so established the aging tier that the entire cognac industry would eventually codify into law. That founding act of generosity is the conceptual anchor of this Holiday Limited Edition release. Sourced from over 1,500 independent partner growers across Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, and Fins Bois, the blend draws on soils ranging from the shallow clay-limestone chalk of Grande Champagne — which drives the long, slow oxidative aging that builds structural depth — to the clay-flint of Borderies, which contributes a rounder, more aromatic register. The blend assembles 100+ individual eaux-de-vie aged up to approximately 30 years in Limousin oak, sourced from Hennessy's own cooperage, which hand-produces 400–500 barrels annually from 80-year-minimum trees harvested from proprietary forests. Critically, Hennessy distills both with and without lees — unlike Martell, which never uses lees — and reintroduces heads and tails into the brouillis before the second Charentais pot-still pass, deliberately concentrating congeners for a darker-fruited, spice-driven profile. The Holiday Edition packaging is the sole differentiator from the standard XO; the liquid is identical, blended under the unbroken eight-generation Fillioux Master Blender lineage. Bottled at 40% ABV, lightly filtered.
